DocDay 2018 Conference

The DocDay 2018 is a two days conference organized by the Institute of Biotechnology in the IFA-Tulln. The event will be held under the auspices of the Bio-Resources and Technologies (BiRT) inititative.

This year’s conference will take place in the Peter-Ruckenbauer lecture hall at the IFA-Tulln
in 3430 Tulln, Konrad-Lorenz-Straße 20 (Google maps).

The aim of the conference is to provide PhD students working at the Campus Tulln a platform to present their research. Furthermore, the event allows an interdisciplinary exchange of the research groups at the Campus Tulln. PhD students are invited to submit an abstract for an oral (12 min talk + 3 min discussion) or a poster presentation.

Furthermore, two awards will be granted for the best talk and best poster. The first day of the conference will be closed by the ‘PhD-Oktoberfest’, as it has already become a tradition. PhD supervisors and interested persons are highly welcome to join the presentations, scientific discussions and social events.

PhD students who want to obtain 2 ECTS for the course 970402 Bio-Resources and Technologies in the winter semester 2018/19 have to additionally register at BOKUonline. Students registered for the course will present their research topic in form of an oral or a poster presentation on the 23rd of October as well as introduce labs, instruments and methods used in their projects on the 24th of October. All other participants are also welcome to join the lab tour.

Oral presentation sessions

PhD students of the Technopol Tulln have the opportunity to present their work as oral presentations (12 min talk + 3 min discussion).

Dedicated poster session

PhD students can also present their work as posters in a dedicated poster session.

PhD-Oktoberfest

In the evening of the first conference day all participants are invited to the PhD-Oktoberfest. Pretzels, Bavarian veal sausages and drinks will be provided.
